Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) credential

  • The Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) credential is an advanced certification offered through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp). It recognizes clinicians who have completed specialized training, supervised experience, and demonstrated competence in the treatment of eating disorders.

Many clinicians pursue CEDS to deepen their expertise, strengthen clinical confidence, and demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, specialized care for individuals with eating disorders.

  • Consultation sessions provide a supportive space to deepen your clinical skills while working with eating disorder cases. Together we may focus on:

    • case consultation and treatment planning
    • assessment and diagnostic clarification
    • navigating medical risk and level-of-care decisions
    • working with body image, food fears, and behavioral symptoms
    • managing therapist countertransference and clinical “stuck points”
    • strengthening your clinical voice and unique therapeutic style
    • preparing for milestones in the CEDS process

Consultation is collaborative, practical, and grounded in real clinical work.

  • Consultation is a required component of the certification pathway and is intended to support clinicians in developing specialized competence in eating disorder treatment. A CEDS-Consultant helps guide clinicians through the clinical and professional development aspects of the process.

  • Detailed information about certification requirements, coursework, and application steps can be found through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP) on their CEDS credential page.

  • Many clinicians begin consultation early in their eating disorder specialization. Because eating disorders are complex and medically sensitive conditions, consultation can be incredibly valuable for building confidence, clinical judgment, and ethical decision-making.

  • My fee for CEDS consultation is $180 for a 50-minute session.

Sessions are typically scheduled on a monthly basis. However, depending on your needs, clinical caseload, and timeline for pursuing the CEDS credential, we may settle on a different frequency. Consultation is conducted virtually, making it accessible to clinicians across locations.

If you're unsure about the right consultation frequency or would like to discuss your goals for certification, you're welcome to reach out and we can determine the best structure for your needs.
